Bored of Classes and Keeps Switching? Maybe They Just Haven't Found the Right Fit
2026-01-24
After only a few sessions, your child starts saying they don't want to go anymore.
Before jumping to "my child won't commit to anything," it's worth working out whether they genuinely dislike the activity, or are simply going through the stage where the learning starts getting harder.
Fun at first, then it takes practice
Many activities start out exciting, but after a while, kids run into the parts that require repetition.
- Piano requires practice.
- Dance requires memorizing choreography.
- Taekwondo requires drilling fundamentals.
- Robotics may require trial and error.
This is exactly the point where some kids start saying "I don't want to go."
Ask why, instead of just "do you like it?"
- What part of the class isn't fun?
- Is there something that feels hard?
- What part do you like best?
- If we changed something, would you want to keep going?
The answers often reveal whether the real issue is the subject, the teacher, the class format, the schedule — or simply that your child has hit a new challenge.
When to keep going, and when to consider switching
If your child still has moments of fun, interest, and engagement, sticking with it a bit longer may help them get past the sticking point. But if, after a fair amount of time, there's still almost no interest, or the activity is causing ongoing stress, trying something new isn't a failure.
Choosing an activity for a child is a process of discovery — not an exam where you have to get it right the first time.
Frequently asked questions
If my child has switched classes several times before, how can GIVE SPACE help?
We recommend starting by identifying the real cause — whether your child genuinely dislikes the subject itself, or dislikes the teaching format, the difficulty, the atmosphere, or how the activity doesn't match their nature. GIVE SPACE's advantage is having many groups of classes, so we can compare — a child who dislikes sitting through music lessons might do well with Dance, while a child not into sports might enjoy Robotics or Art.
Do we need to commit to a long course before we know if it's right?
If you're still unsure, a trial class helps you decide from real experience rather than guessing.
Have you tried several places already without finding the right fit? Tell us what you've tried and what didn't work — our admin team can help recommend a class that suits your child.
